How to back up and restore Business Manager databases

Learn how to back up and restore Business Manager databases.

To access the back up and restore functions:
  1. Open Business Manager.
  2. Sign in using an account with Manager access rights. If you do not have Manager access rights, consult the person who manages your Business Manager software. If this is not possible, contact software support to obtain Manager access rights.
  3. Select Utilities > Maintenance > Backup Database.

​To back up Business Manager databases:
  1. Select all databases (unless you only need a backup of a specific database):
    • Working database (TR)
    • Consolidation database (HO)
    • Archive database (SV)
    • Host to Host archive database (SH)
  2. Select Backup databases.
  3. Select Close.
Note: It is recommended to save the backup files to an external storage disk. The default location of the backup is C:\Program Files (x86)\Pitney Bowes\Business Manager\Backups. To change the location, contact software support.


To restore Business Manager databases:

Caution: Restoring databases will override all data in Business Manager.
  1. Select all databases (unless you only need a backup of a specific database):
    • Working database (TR)
    • Consolidation database (HO)
    • Archive database (SV)
    • Host to Host archive database (SH)
  2. Select Restore a Backup Database.
  3. Select Restore another backup located as defined.
  4. Select the browse button (...).
  5. Browse to the Working database (TR) and select Open.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. Repeat for Consolidation database (HO), Archive database (SV), and Host to Host archive database (SH).
  8. Select OK.
  9. When finished, select Close.
