What records are written to the Mail.dat UPA (UN-CODED PARCEL ADDRESS RECORD) file using MailStream Plus

Product Affected:  MailStream Plus™, all versions, all platforms
To produce the Mail.dat UPA file, you need to activate it, by doing a mailing that the UPA file applies to, and have the required job settings.  See the Guide for the version of MailStream Plus™ you are using, and check the REPORT MAILDAT parameter, position 34.
  • The UPA file is the 'UN-CODED PARCEL ADDRESS RECORD' file.  Once the job is setup correctly, the input Name-Address records that will get UPA records written are ones that do not have either a 9 or 11 byte ZIP Code, i.e. a record that just has a 5 digit ZIP Code.
  • If all of the input Name-Address records have either a 9 or 11 byte ZIP Code, then no UPA records will be needed or produced.
