MailStream Plus - What does the CRIDS parameter do?

Product affected: MailStream Plus™, all versions, all platforms
The CRIDS parameter is used to populate the optional .epd Mail.dat file, fields EPD-1003 and EPD-1004.
The .epd file is useful for mailers that want to have specific "Move Update Supplier" and/or "Piece Uniqueness Manager"for individual mailpieces.

EPD-1003 indicates what kind of CRID it is.
---EPD-1003 gets the value 'M' for the "organization responsible for compliance with USPS® Move Update requirements."  (It's called the "Move Update Supplier" in the Idealliance Mail.dat Standards.)  This is set using CRIDS positions in 8-13.
---EPD-1003 gets the value 'U' for the "organization responsible for maintaining mailpiece IM® barcode uniqueness."  (It's called the "Piece Uniqueness Manager" in the Idealliance Mail.dat Standards.)  This is set using CRIDS positions 15-20.

The actual CRID for either of the above purposes comes from the input Name-Address record, and goes into EPD-1004.

If CRIDS positions 8-13 and 15-20 are both used, there will be two records.  But if a field is blank in an Input Name-Address record, an EPD record will not be written for that field.  (And if both fields are blank in a Input Name-Address record, no EPD record will be written for that input Name-Address record.)
