How to understand the concept of Compress in Load XML / Save XML for EngageOne

Product Feature: Installation / Upgrade

Operating System: Windows 2008 R2

Configuration: JBoss

In the load and save XML that is used to get resources information to the interactive editor there is a 'compress' option. When compress is activated, the answer, hip and pubx files are compressed into one single file and saved on the Server.

The Compress feature is part of the interactive editor and is not related to the updateWorkItem request. It's a feature introduced to increase performance in EO.

If the compress flag is set to true, only the files that are requested from the server through the interactive editor are made available to the user. Please refer page 62 of the Generation 2 EO documentation, 'XML Structure (Load)'.
Therefore, there is no network latency as not all the files are sent, thus increasing performance.

The compressed files are then decompressed and made available to the user for editing in the interactive editor. When the user edits and saves the files, these files are then sent to the server replacing the existing ones and are saved in a compressed format.
Please refer page 63 of the Generation 2 EO documentation, 'XML Structure (Save)'.
