How to pack and return the mailstation and mailstation2

Pitney Bowes provides everything you need to return the meter: the box that the replacement equipment came in or a return carton.
The box contains:
  • styrofoam packing material
  • plastic bag for meter
  • folded cloths for packaging
  • tape
  • shipping label
Before you start:
  • make sure your working area has enough room to move about freely
  • protect your clothing from possible ink stains
Transfer your postal funds to the original funding source
  1. Press the Menu key to connect the meter to the Pitney Bowes Data Center
    Note: mailstation2™ connects using the Internet via PC Meter Connect™
  2. Press Review (down) until the display says Change Setup
  3. Press Enter/Yes
  4. Press Review (down) until the display says Remove funds from meter
  5. Press Enter/Yes
  6. The meter will connect to Postage by Phone and you will see the amount transferred to Postage by Phone
  7. Press Clear/Back and you will a notification that your meter was taken out of service. If you see any other message, press Clear/Back again and call Pitney Bowes at 1-800-468-8454.
Note: Recommend you print a Funds report or any accounting reports to help you keep a record.

Disassemble the Meter:
If you have a scale attached to the meter, remove it now by lifting it straight up and off. Return the scale if:
  • You are ending your lease with Pitney Bowes and returning your meter, or,
  • You received a new scale in your replacement carton (otherwise, keep your current scale for use with the replacement meter)
Unplug and remove all the cables from the meter and scale:
  1. Unplug the power cable
  2. Unplug the phone or USB cables
  3. Unplug the optional scale from the meter
Pack the Meter for Shipping:
Important: If you are replacing your base meter only, please do not return your scale and cables.
 
Pack the Meter:
  1. Place the meter inside the plastic bag provided
  2. Place the meter in the box as shown (click the image to view an enlarged picture)
  3. Seal the top of the carton with the tape provided
  4. Apply the prepaid shipping label over the old shipping label and ship via:
    • UPS: Use the enclosed UPS shipping label and return via your local UPS agent or drop off location
    • USPS: Use the enclosed USPS shipping label and return via your local Post Office or USPS carrier
TIP: Retain the customer portion of the prepaid shipping label for tracking purposes.
