How to download and install PC Meter Connect

The PC Meter Connect™ (PCMC) software uses your computer's internet connection to connect your franking machine to the Pitney Bowes Data Center.

The meter is not required to be permanently connected to the computer. Connect the meter only when a connection is required on the meter, for instance to perform balance enquiries, add funds, perform data uploads, etc.

Before downloading PC Meter Connect, review the minimum system requirements.

Prepare before you start:
  1. Sign in to the computer that will be connected to your meter with Administrator privileges (if required).
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the meter.
  3. Remove the USB cable from the back of the meter (if the USB cable was already connected).

To download and install PCMC:
  1. Visit to begin the download process.
  2. Depending on which internet browser you use:
    1. Click Run to begin the installation.
    2. Or click Save, go to your Downloads folder and double-click on the ".exe" file to begin the installation.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts and instructions to complete the installation.
Note: If you already have the PC Meter Connect software, and it is currently running on the computer, you will need to close the application before installing the latest version.

To use PCMC to connect your meter:
  1. Open the program by double-click the icon on your Desktop, or press the Start button and type "PC Meter Connect".
Note: The PC Meter Connect program runs in the background on your computer, so it may already be open.
  1. Plug the flat end of the USB cable into an active USB port on your computer.
  2. Plug the square end into the back of the meter.

  1. Power up the meter. This pop-up on the computer's screen tells you that the meter has been recognised:

  1. You are now ready to make a connection on the meter.

To close the PCMC program:
  1. Find the PCMC icon in the Windows system tray (bottom right-hand corner of the computer, near the time and date. It is often hidden, click the up triangle on the taskbar).
    1. When a meter is connected, the icon is an orange arrow.
    2. When meter is not connected, the icon is a red cross. When you hover the mouse cursor over the icon it says "Meter not detected by PC" or "Internet Not Detected".
  2. Right-click the icon, and left-click Exit.
  3. At the prompt "Are you sure you want to exit?", select Yes.

  1. Alternatively, open the Windows Task Manager (Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and select Start Task Manager).
  2. Select the Processes tab.
  3. Click on the "Description" column to sort it alphabetically.
  4. Select the "PC Meter Connect" line and click End Process.
