Saving changes to Portrait Dialogue's questionnaire templates takes a long time

Portrait Dialogue (PD) uses a caching mechanism to speed up the process of editing changes to the questionnaire templates. However, after a period of usage, this cache can become so full that the performance improvements that it usually brings are degraded. This is noticeable by the time taken to save questionnaire templates becomes unacceptably lengthy.

At this point you should consider clearing the PD questionnaire cache.

This is achieved by browsing to the web page ClearCache.aspx, but normally this will be result in the following error:

To allow us to clear the cache, an initial change needs to be made to the web.config file in \PST\Million Handshakes Web\MHCwa

Firstly make a back-up of the web.config file so that you can revert to the original settings if you experience issues.
Next, open this config file in a text editor and remove the comments <!-- and --> around the relevant location section for ClearCache.aspx (see below)

Save these changes and open ClearCache.aspx by browsing to the file in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

The PD questionnaire cache is now cleared and your questionnaire template editing performance should be improved.

There is no need to re-comment the ClearCache.aspx section of the web.config file after the cache has been cleared.
