How does the MailStream Plus ZIP IN position 44 work

Product Affected:  MailStream Plus™
In a MailStream Plus™ (MSP) presort, if you are attempting CRRT for Line of Travel or Walk Sequence rates, you can use position 44 to have MSP ignore or choose to not ignore records with missing information:

Define how to handle WS/LOT sequencing:
  • P Process records that have Carrier Route Codes and no Walk-Sequence/Line-of-Travel information; qualify pieces as Enhanced Carrier Route (ECR) if possible.
  • C Ignore the Carrier Route information on this record if the WS/LOT information is blank or is an unmatched address WS/LOT containing all zeros.
  • I Ignore the Carrier Route information on this record if the WS/LOT information is blank.
  • blank Default is I

For the value C if the WS/LOT information record is blank or has 00000 then it will be cleared.  But if it has less than 5 zeroes, like 0000, then it will not be cleared.

Make sure the walk sequence value is properly populated in each record with a 5 byte value before it is brought into MSP.
-------------------------
  • Note:  'clear' and 'cleared' above does not mean that MSP actually clears the CRRT info from the Name-address record.  The CRRT number is just ignored so the record will not be included in the CRRT part of the presort.
