How to enable password protection for PDF in EngageOne Vault

UPDATED: September 13, 2017

Vault allows to render documents as PDF. It is possible to add document security to PDF using profiles.INI. Append below lines to profile :

[SampleProfile]
PDFEncryption=1
PDFUserPassword=123456
PDFOwnerPassword=abcdef

PDFAllowPrint=0
PDFAllowModifyContents=0
PDFAllowCopy=0
PDFAllowModifyAnnot_Form=1

After the files corresponding to above profile are ingested, client will be able  to render the document. Perform "save as PDF" and observe:
  • While trying to open in Adobe reader, user will be prompted for a password. Till we enter "123456." the document will not open.
  • Once the document is open, all other operations like copy/modify/print are disabled. To enable them we choose to open PDF in ADOBE FULL WRITER or FOXPRO, After this user will be prompted for another password wherein till "abcdef" is entered, document modification is not functional. Now it will be possible to copy/modify/print the PDF.
