Learn to know the differences between Urban and Highway links in Paramics

UPDATED: June 15, 2017

Following are the differences between Urban and Highway links:
  • Highway links are not checked for crossing manoeuvres i.e. where two streams of traffic cross each other heading to different links. With highway network structures i.e. mainline, ramps, slips this will never be the case. As a result vehicles on highway links treat these movements as major. Merge manoeuvres i.e. two vehicles heading to the same link/lane are checked for.
  • Another difference is signposting - by default this distance is 250 metres for urban roads and 750 metres for highway roads. There is no built in difference in car following other than the natural effects of higher speeds.
