When setting up a Walk Sequence job, do you need an indicator on the record that shows if the piece is residential or business using MailStream Plus

Product Affected:  MailStream Plus™
When setting up a MailStream Plus™ (MSP) job for Walk Sequence rates, on the ALG CR parameter, position 12, you can use the Z –
  • Z  File is in Carrier Walk sequence. Attempt saturation discounts based on a true residential record count of the input file

If you want to control which records are to be considered for Residential only
  • The Z option needs to be used with the R FLAG parameter to flag residential records.
  • The R FLAG parameter : Optional- The R FLAG parameter identifies the residential name/address records. Every record not defined as residential is counted as non-residential
  • With the Z option on the ALG CR parameter and the R FLAG parameter then MSP will check the 90% or more of the active residential addresses against just the residential records defined by the R FLAG parameter.
  • With a W in position 12 of the ALG CR parameter, MSP will always check both the density requirement of at least 90% or more of the active residential addresses or 75% or more of the total number of active possible delivery addresses on each carrier route on the entire mailing.
