Why is the Maildat PDR-1018 value not matching the REPORT MANIFEST Piece ID # in my MailStream Plus job

Products Affected:  MailStream Plus™
The MailStream Plus™ (MSP) job has the parameter U CODE –

U CODE 010 09

Here is the explanation of this parameter from the MSP Reference guide:

  • Optional. Mail.dat standards require that each name/address record have a unique piece code to identify the record in the *.pdr Mail.dat file. Use the U CODE parameter to define the location of this code in the input Name/Address record. The unique piece code is written to the Piece Detail Record file (.pdr) and populates the PDR-1018. If you do not provide a U CODE location, MailStream Plus uses the 9-byte Control Sequence sort field.

MSP is using the value from position 010 of the input file as it is being indicated by the U CODE parameter.

If you don’t want to use this, then remove this parameter and MSP will use the 9-byte Control Sequence sort field and then it will match the Piece ID # on the REPORT MANIFEST.
