How to suppress pages while rendering a document in EngageOne Vault

UPDATED: September 19, 2017

Vault can be used to archive and receive documents. In a scenario where document has blank pages or certain page in between accounts and requirement is to suppress those pages while placing the request to rendering engine.

Pages can be suppressed in Vault by placing additional parameters in Journal file.

Output will have those blank pages but when it is rendered on any client, those pages will be skipped and thus not visible.

There are two journals : XMLjournal and journal. It is possible to skip blank pages in both journal types however, the method will vary.

1. With the standard journal, you can suppress blank pages between documents using the I record, e.g. Placing Pipe delimiter just before the record to be suppressed will skip that page on rendering request.

(2) With the XML journal, suppress pages within a document using the Skipped tag:

<NumberOfPages value="3"/>
<Skipped>3</Skipped>

This would read a 3 page document but drop the 3rd page to create a 2 page document in Vault.
Or

For a range of pages to be suppressed
<NumberOfPages value="8"/>
<Skipped>
<SPages>2</SPages>
<SPages>6-8</SPages>
</Skipped>

This would read 8 page document but drop the the pages between 6 to 8.
