PostalOne error from my MailStream Plus pdr file: “For seamless parallel processing, the pdr IM barcode field must be populated with a 20, 25, 29, or 31 character value.”

I am trying to set up a presort run for parcel select (lightweight).

Postal one is rejecting the mail.dat if I produce a pdr file, giving this message:

“For seamless parallel processing, the pdr IM barcode field must be populated with a 20, 25, 29, or 31 character value.”

Can you give me some guidance on this?

Answer:
USPS has this Seamless Acceptance. Guide:

Mail Preparation
Mail Class: First-Class, Periodicals, Standard, Bound Printed Matter
Processing Category: Letters, Cards, Flats
Unique barcode on all mailpieces with an IMb

 All automation mailpieces must contain a 31-digit Intelligent Mail Barcode.
 Non-automation mailpieces may include a 20, 25, 29, or 31-digit IMb.

So, PostalOne’s error is the the fact your barcode is a IMpB and not the IMB. And is only for Letters, Cards and Flats mailings.

So this is not a mailing for Seamless Acceptance.

Another cause of getting the PostalOne! error message is that a mailer was doing a USPS Marketing Mail Flats mailing, but the pieces were too heavy for automation, so he did not have the IMb barcode generated for them.  But he still needed to do Seamless Acceptance.  After checking with the USPS they said that he could do Seamless Acceptance, but because of the pieces being non-automation compatible, he needed to *not* have a PDR file generated for the mailing.
For unusual cases like this one, it is best to verify details with the USPS/PostalOne! before preparing a mailing
