Explanation of CODE-1 Plus return “DATABASE ERROR ON RDIDB FOR OPEN” on the z/OS platform

Operating System: z/OS
Products Affected:  CODE-1 PLUS
The return “DATABASE ERROR ON RDIDB FOR OPEN” on the z/OS platform indicate a problem with the RDI database download.  Make certain that the RDI database has been downloaded from the g1.com/support website or eStore instead of the USPS website and the correct JCL is used to install the RDI database.

Beginning with the CODE-1 Plus™ 4.2.0 release, the RDI install JCL has changed to accommodate the new larger RDI™ file size and data format. The JCL to load the RDI™ file has changed. It is now a simple VSAM DEFINE/REPRO. The DD name for z/OS, CICS (RDO), and IMS has changed from RDIMSTR to RDIDB.   In addition, the RDI database must be downloaded from the g1.com/support website or from eStore.  The JCL member to allocate the RDI database file is called RDIALOCF.  The JCL member to install the RDI database is called RDILOAD.  Both of these JCL members are located in the install.jcl library.

To turn on RDI using the G1CP transaction, type RDI on the command line.
