Identifying a Confirm Scheduled Report that causes the Scheduled Reporting or Dashboard Agents to run out of memory

UPDATED: August 14, 2018

The Scheduled Reporting or Dashboard Agents on the Scheduled Tasks screen in Confirm® runs but do not create any output.  The Agents may not show as 'Failed' but Dashboards may not be updated or reports may not be created.

Check the start and end times of the failed or long running Scheduled Reporting or Dashbaoard Agents on the Scheduled Tasks screen.

Now find the Task Processor logs that cover the full timescale the Agent run.

Open the logs in Notepad++ or a similar app and find all occurrences of the Scheduled Reporting or Dashboard Agents - use "Scheduled Reporting Agent : Report (" or "Dashboard Agent : Report (" as the search string and then look at the report names.

When the report name changes this lets you identify when the report finishes and also the amount of the memory used.

Check the start and end times of the reports and the memory before and after it finishes.

The problem reports will use lots of memory and return large rows of data. The error message "Allocated memory exceeds tolerance of 1500 MB" may also be present, as well as other error messages.

NOTE: The problem report may not be the last report to run before the agent fails.

The problem Scheduled Report can then be turned off until the SQL Data Sourceis checked and corrected. This can be done by removing the 'Next Run Ttime' on the Scheduled Report screen for this Report.
