VERIFIED SOLUTION i

MailStream Plus- On z/OS, what output 'Report Files' and 'Alternate Print files' have LRECL lengths defined in the supplied IVPFILE test job?

Product affected: MailStream Plus™, all versions.
Operating System: z/OS (MVS)
An IVPFILE JCL script is supplied with the MailStream Plus™ (MSP) z/OS installation, and is used to test the installed software.  It can also be used to verify the settings needed for some of the files.

The settings shown below are for the current software version, 8.3.7 (as-of Jan 27, 2019.)   Looking at the 'Report Files' and 'Alternate Print files' sections of the IVPFILE JCL, many of the output reports do not need LRECL settings.  But 6 of them do:

//*     Report Files
//*****************************************************************           //MSRPRPT  DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=133
//MSRP256  DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=257
//MSRPSTM  DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=257
//MSRPXLG  DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=133

//*     Alternate Print files
//*****************************************************************
//SUMMARY  DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=257
//USPSSTMT DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=257

Not having the correct LRECL length defined when needed can cause the job to abend.

NOTE:
This also applies to any custom output filenames specified on the REPORT parameter position 60-67.
For example, the line above that starts MSRPSTM is for the Postage statements. That defines by default the report that is generated with a REPORT USPSSTMT parameter.
But there is an option on most of the REPORT parameters to use positions 60-67 to re-direct the report to the mailers choice of location/name, for example to MMFACS-
REPORT USPSSTMT                                            MMFACS
If the re-direct option is used, then the job needs to have a DD for MMFACS in the JCL, and the LRECL for it must be specified correctly just like the IVPFILE JCL has for MSRPSTM
MMFACS   DD SYSOUT=*,RECFM=FBA,LRECL=257
