How to update the abbreviation file used for geocoding in MapInfo Pro

UPDATED: March 30, 2017

MapInfo Professional comes with a text file called MAPINFOW.ABB (MapInfo Professional Abbreviations), that contains a list of common street abbreviations, such as "St" for "Street" and "Blvd." for "Boulevard," and so forth. This file is located by default under C:\Program Files (x86)\MapInfo\Professional (x32-bit edition) or C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional (x64-bit edition).

Users can modify this file via opening it in a text editor such as Notepad++ and adding in additional lines representing an abbreviation. Below is an example where another row: COURT   CRT has been added. Once it has been modified, the user will need to save the file.
