VERIFIED SOLUTION i

EngageOne Content Author failing to publish HIM file when EPS used in message

Product Feature: Build / Publish

Issue

When attempting to publish a HIM file in EngageOne Content Author, the job fails with a resource pack build failure.

Cause

The EPS file is not readable in Ghostscript, which is the tool used to translate all EPS files in EngageOne Content Author.

Ghostscript gives the following error:

GPL Ghostscript 9.10 (2013-08-30)
Copyright (C) 2013 Artifex Software, Inc.  All rights reserved.
This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details.
Displaying non DSC file C:/customer_tests/digital_planet/garanti.eps
Error: /undefined in ÅÐÓÆ

Caused by the following bad data before the start of file:

ÅÐÓÆ    ¿E         ßE à ÿÿ  %!PS-Adobe-3.1 EPSF-3.0

Further errors are also received about superfluous data after the %%EOF:

DSC Warning
At line 17649:
  %%Trailer
The trailer is normally at the end of a document.
This line was found more than 32k bytes from the end
of the file.  Trailers are not usually this long.
It is more likely that another PostScript file has been included,
without enclosing it in %%BeginDocument / %%EndDocument.

Resolution

UPDATED: February 7, 2019
Remove all text before the %!PS-Adobe-3.1 EPSF-3.0 at the start of the file (this can be done in a text editor), and remove all data after the %%EOF (backup the file before doing this).

Once this is done, check that the file then opens in Ghostscript, and the content is as expected.

If all is well in Ghostscript, and there are still problems with the creation of the HIM file, contact software support.
