‘RecordParseException: No. of characters in the line (65534) exceeds the maximum allowable line length (C). for line no. : 0’ message in Spectrum

Issue

When using a 'Read from File' stage or 'Write to file' stage in a dataflow, following message is encountered:
com.pb.spectrum.platform.server.common.datasource.RecordParseException: No. of characters in the line  (<n>) exceeds the maximum allowable line length (<m>). for line no. : 0

Cause

It could be caused due to either of following:
  • Max number of characters allowed in 'Read from File' or 'Write to flow'.
  • In case of 'Read from File', file that the dataflow is trying to read is corrupt.

Resolution

UPDATED: December 4, 2018

  • There is an enhancement request in place to increase the maximum number of characters allowed in 'Read from FIle' and 'Write to File' stage. It is scheduled to be implemented in '2019 H1' release. To know current status on implementation, contact Software Support and quote Jira # CDQE-26443.
  • Check the input file for corruption.
