Resolve emails not being sent via EngageOne Digital Delivery when subject line contains an ampersand (&)

Issue

Emails are not being sent via EngageOne Digital Delivery when the subject line contains an ampersand (&).

The subject of the email is a variable, specified and passed in the Structured XML Journal in EngageOne Designer:

EngageOne Admin has a Delivery Channel of type e-Messaging where Subject uses the %EmailSubject% variable passed from the Journal file.

Cause

Emails from EngageOne Digital Delivery fail because the ampersand (&) symbol is not properly passed.


 

Resolution

A workaround for this can be deployed as follows:

If for example, the data is “R & D” this should be modified to “R & D”, where the first & amp; will be parsed, but the second will remain and the subject will be as required (contains the ampersand (&)).  As an alternative, use the word "and" instead of the "&" symbol.
