Resolve "Waste Tank Full" or "Waste Tank Near Full" on the DM100i, DM125 and more

Issue

The meter displays Waste Tank Near Full or Waste Tank Full, and may not print.

Cause

Excess ink from purges and heavy use will eventually fill the ink waste tank in the meter. When the ink reservoir nears capacity, the meter shows the message Waste Tank Near Full. When ink reservoir reaches full capacity, the meter shows Waste Tank Full.

IMPORTANT: You can temporarily suspend the Waste Tank Near Full message and continue processing mail for a short time. However, once the Waste Tank Full message appears, the meter will be inoperable and will require service. As soon as either of these messages appear, contact client support to request a waste tank replacement. Please have your model number ready.

The following steps may allow you to temporarily suspend the message and process mail:
  1. Make sure the most current firmware (software) is installed on the meter:
    • Versions below 16.04:  Update your system using either PC Meter Connect or USB Ethernet Constant Connectivity Kit (DM125 and DM225 only), then go to step 2 to clear the message.
    • Version 16.04 or higher: The message can be cleared as explained in step 2.
  2. Put the meter into Service Mode and clear the message:
    1. Unplug the meter.
    2. Wait one minute.
    3. Plug the meter back in.
    4. When the Initializing screen displays (the second screen to display during startup), press and hold both the Space and Shift keys.
    5. When prompted for your password, release the keys and enter 6946.
    6. Select the Diagnostics screen on the meter display.
    7. Select PM Maintenance.
    8. Press Page Down until Clear Waste Tank is displayed.
    9. Press Yes/Enter.
    10. Select Continue.
    11. Select Continue until you reach the Home screen.
Note: If the machine asks for a code to proceed, enter 9287.
  1. Reboot the meter:
    1. Unplug the power cord.
    2. Wait one to three minutes.
    3. Plug the power cord back in, ensuring that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.
