Error 12A5: Resolve on the DM500, DM525, and more

Issue

The meter displays error code 12A5 and will not run mail in WOW mode.

Cause

This error indicates that the Weigh-On-The-Way® (WOW) is out of calibration. This may occur because:
  • Pieces of paper are stuck in the WOW.
  • A mail piece that is too thick was attempted to be fed through the machine.
  • Someone was leaning on the cover or "skis" while feeding mail in WOW mode.
  • The machine was moved and now is not level or is on an unstable surface.

Note: If the machine has been moved, it must be tested and recalibrated by a Pitney Bowes representative.

You may be able to clear the error by restarting the meter. Follow these steps to restart safely:
  1. Turn the machine off.
  2. Lift the transport lever and check for pieces of paper or debris. 
  3. Using a can of non-flammable canned air and working from the left side of the machine to the exit, clear the entire mail path of dust and debris.
  4. Lock the transport lever back into place.
  5. Leave the machine off for at least one minute to clear the error.
  6. Turn the machine back on.
