VERIFIED SOLUTION i

Information on why would a MailStream Plus job not produce the Mail.dat files or other reports? It may be due to a bad/empty input file or incorrect ZIP IN parameter. (Error Code 8001)

Issue

Mail.dat files were not produced.
or
Other reports not being populated.

Cause

The XLG report (DD MSRPXLG, <jobname>.xlg, or PRNTXLG) ended with these lines-

The 8001 code in the first line means "No Records Selected".  That code may be found for many or all of the reports selected in the job when this problem cause occurs.

In the RPT report (DD MSRPRPT, <jobname>.rpt, or PRNTRPT) look at the Control totals section (found after the parameters are listed)-
MSST00A-- MailStream Plus Statistics Generation, R08.3M00,                      Control Totals
05/13/2015 OPEN SYSTEMS MSN
Name/Address Records Read, File IN                 0
Records Marked as Invalid                          0           0.00 % OF PROCESSED
Records With Valid ZIP Code                        0           0.00 % OF PROCESSED   <-----check
Name/Address Records Rejected, File OR             0
Name/Address Records Forward, File ON              0
Presort Statistics Records, File OS                0
Copies Reflected in Presort Statistics             0
                                 <-----check

Check the number of records with Valid ZIP Codes, and how many copies were reflected in the Presort Statistics file, as indicated above.  If the counts are 0, that indicates the input Name-Address file was empty or the records had invalid ZIP Codes and were rejected.
You can also check the number of records that were written to the reject file "Name/Address Records Rejected, File OR".  Were all of the record rejected and written there?

Another scenario is when the REPORT xxxxxx parameter has a value is placed in positions 19 thru 28 tell MSP to exclude records from a report.
For example placing an N in position 25 is telling MSP:   No, do not report Palletized mail.
If the entire job is placed on pallets, then no records will be presented on that report.

Resolution

UPDATED: February 6, 2018
Troubleshoot if the wrong input file was being used, or it was empty, or perhaps the ZIP IN parameter position 8-10 was set to look at the wrong location in the Name-Address records for the 5-digit ZIP Code.

On the REPORT xxxxxx parameter if an N is placed in position 25 and the job only mail on pallets, to generate the report, remove the N in position 25.
Or remove any value in position 17 thru 28 that prevents record information from being placed on a report is this is not desired.
