Portrait Foundation is missing its registry entries


 

Issue

Following a clean installation of Portrait Foundation there do not appear to be any Portrait Foundation registry entries present and the system errors straight away upon start up.
There should be several registry entries under the following location:
  • HKLM\SOFTWARE\PST\Portrait
or for a 64-bit machine:
  • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PST\Portrait

Cause

The most likely cause is that the account that was used to install the software did not have Administrative permissions, or that the user forgot to right-click the install executable and choose 'Run as Administrator'.

Resolution

UPDATED: March 23, 2017
Uninstall the software completely, and re-install using elevated permissions.
