MailStream Plus and CODE-1 Plus licenses on mainframe (z/OS and z/VSE) platforms can have problems if they are both loaded into the same VSAM file.

Operating System: z/OS and z/VSE

Issue

Some mainframe users (z/OS and z/VSE) have their MailStream Plus (MSP) and CODE-1 Plus (C1P) product licenses loaded into the same VSAM file.

Some users are able to do that with no reported problems.

Other users, and Pitney Bowes Software testing, has found that it *can* cause license files to not get updated correctly, which can result in error messages such as the product(s) not being licensed or the license has expired.

Cause

In some cases, having the MailStream Plus (MSP) and CODE-1 Plus (C1P) product licenses loaded into the same VSAM file.

Resolution

UPDATED: March 31, 2017
If problems occur when licenses for more than one application are loaded into the same VSAM file, then it is recommended putting each application's licenses into a separate VSAM file.

(The subcomponent options for each parent application, such as MSP's Palletization Plus, or CODE-1 Plus's Delivery Point Validation (DPV), are to be loaded into the same license file as the Parent application.)
