Resolve unresponsive scale on the DM300C, DM400C, DM450C and DM475

Issue

The attached scale does not respond when an item is placed on it.

Cause

The meter is not communicating with the attached scale.

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:
  1. Remove the scale from the top of the meter.
  2. Restart the meter:
    1. Unplug the power cord.
    2. Wait one to three minutes.
    3. Plug the power cord back in, ensuring that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.
  3. Place the scale back on the top of the meter.
  4. Test the meter by placing one letter-sized sheet of paper on the scale. It should weigh 0.2 oz.
If the scale is still not working, check the serial port setting:
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Setup.
  3. Press Page Down.
  4. Select Serial Port.
  5. Select Attached Scale.
  6. Press Home.
  7. Test the meter by placing one letter-sized sheet of paper on the scale. It should weigh 0.2 oz.
