Once the update is installed, the meter will return to the home screen. If the error remains after installing the update, restart the meter:

  2. Wait one full minute.
  3. Plug the power cord back in, ensuring that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.
If the battery message returns after restarting, the meter battery needs to be replaced. The meter battery cannot be replaced like an ordinary household battery. It is part of the meter security device that protects your postage funds and requires technical service to replace.

To ensure uninterrupted functionality, you must request battery replacement service (free of charge). The meter's battery enables your settings and other information to be saved. If your battery is allowed to expire, you will lose that information.
