Error "An add-on for this website failed to run" in EngageOne Interactive Editor (EngageOne Server)

Issue

Internet Explorer add-on fails to run when trying to edit a document in EngageOne Interactive Editor. Error message observed in Internet Explorer window is as follow:

A corresponding error log is found in Windows Event Viewer where EngageOne Interactive is installed at (in this example it's dv16):
Attempt to install control http://lghbdv16:8080/EngageOneCorrespondent/ax-editor/eoeditor.cab failed. The host URL http://dv16 is not in policy

Cause

ActiveX control installation is not enabled for the machine or server under which EngageOne Interactive is installed.

Resolution

UPDATED: July 8, 2019
A Group Policy change is required. Please go through the following steps from within the machine where EngageOne Interactive is installed:

1. From Start / Run, type GPEDIT.MSC to launch the Group Policy Editor console
2. Go to Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / ActiveX Installer Service
3. Double click "Approved Installation Sites for ActiveX Controls" to edit the policy settings

4. Ensure that "Enabled" radio button is selected.
5. Click on Host URLs "Show" button and add the server domain and the value 2,2,1,0 e.g.

6. Click OK on above prompt
7. Click Apply, then OK on the "Approved Installation Sites for ActiveX Controls" prompt
