Understanding the Vault Cache

Does Vault cache results?  Sometimes I make a change to the inis, remove a document, ingest a document, but I don't see those changes reflected.

Yes, Vault does cache results.  Restarting the services effectively resets the cache.  That is why it is important after any INI change to restart all the services

Also, you can control the cache settings by adding the following to all the inis:  (see the e2 vault customizing guide for more information)

e2serverd.ini, e2loaderd.ini, e2routerd.ini, e2renderd.ini, e2renderd2.ini

[cache1]
maxagesuccess=1800
maxagefailure=300
size=64
debug=1

If you set MaxAgeSuccess and MaxAgeFailure to 0 that will effectively disable the cache, which might be helpful for troubleshooting, but is not recommended in production.

MaxAge value is in seconds
size is in MB

Alternatively, to disable the cache you can use the setting:

[cache1]
enable=0
