How to determine the difference between a “standardized” address and a “normalized” address in CODE-1 Plus

Products Affected:  CODE-1 Plus
When an address is presented to CODE-1 Plus, we search the US Postal database for a match.  If we are able to find a match, we return a “standardized” address.   Standardized address information is formatted to conform to USPS conventions and matched against the US Postal database.

If we are unable to make a match, we can return a “normalized” address.  Normalized address information is formatted to conform to USPS conventions but not matched against the US Postal database.  For example, normalization means if STREET is spelled out on the input address, we will return ST; if SUITE is spelled out, we will return STE, etc.
