The size of theRaster Imagery (TIFF, JPEG, ECW, PNG, Etc..) is an important factor:
1. If image is > 500 Megabytes, users will need at least double the RAM and Hard Drive space in order to process.
So if space is adequate, and Discover still crashes, try the tips suggested below.
2. Make sure that the TEMP directory is empty as possible.
To check, go to Start > Run and enter %temp% and Click OK.
Delete everything possible in this folder - Windows will prevent users from deleting certain files and folders.
Once completed try again with Discover > Image Menu

3. If problems still persist, uninstall/reinstall Discover 2013 only.
