How to print a layout with a large map that spans multiple smaller sheets

Products affected MapInfo Pro ™
Here are step-by-step instructions:

Create a new Layout by selecting the Layout tab > Layout > New Layout > pick a blank layout template.

Now change the size of the layout to be the overall output size required.
For this example a 48 by 36 inch page layout will be created using the MapInfo pdf driver.
That output can then be printed over multiple pages at 8.5 by 11 inches and then can be pieced together to form the 48X36 poster size map.

First, set the Layout to use the MapInfo PDF Printer. While the Layout is the front window, choose Layout > Page Setup and press the Printer… button.
Then choose the MapInfo PDF Printer:
Press the Properties… button:
Now set the custom paper size. To do this, go to the Paper Settings tab, choose Custom paper size, and press the Custom button.
Now set the custom page size. This should be the overall size. For this example, use 48 x 36 inches:
Set the correct width and height and then press OK to go back to the PDF Printer Properties dialog.
Press OK multiple times to save settings and exit out of the Page Setup dialog returning to the Layout window.

Now the layout has one large page, add the content, such as a large map.

Select Print to PDF

Once the layout content has been arranged, it can be printed to a single, large PDF page.

After creating the PDF with the single sheet, open the PDF file into a viewer and use the PDF viewer to print multiple pages to an actual printer.
There are various PDF viewers that can be used.

This example shows how to print using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
Select a physical printer driver from within the Adobe reader that will print the final output.
Now choose Poster for the output size and select Print.

This example uses the Foxit PDF viewer. Select the option Tile Large Pages and choose OK.
