Performing rate updates on the DM50-DM60

Note: Some screens may vary depending on the software version your meter is running.

Note: If the update is performed in advance of the effective date, your meter will automatically switch to the new rates on the effective date.
  • This update can take up to 10 minutes to complete. During peak periods, heavy network traffic may require several connection attempts.

Rate Update Instructions:
  1. Make sure that your system is connected via SmartLink™, Pitney Bowes Communication Device, PC Meter Connect, or via analogue phone line, in order to communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.
  2. At the main screen (Date on display) press the Funds key.
  3. Use the Review (Down) arrow key to scroll to "Check balance available?"
  4. Press the Enter/Yes key.
  5. The machine will automatically connect to the PB Infrastructure.
  6. Once the meter has connected it will show Checking PBP Account Balances.  The machine then shows Prepaid £xx.xx (the balance of your PBP account).
  7. Press the Enter/Yes key to continue.
  8. The meter then asks if you wish to Refill Postage. Press the No key to continue.
At this point, if the machine returns to the home screen, it is likely that the new rates have already downloaded. Please check using the Rate Confirmation Tool.
  1. The meter will check for updates and display SYSTEM UPDATE REQUIRED – Please Wait.
  2. Press the Enter/Yes key and follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the new rates.
  3. Once completed the display will read Download complete Continue – press enter. Press the Enter/Yes key.
  4. The display will then show During the call: Rate data installed.
  5. Press the Enter/Yes key.
  6. You will be asked Do you want to print a download report?.  If you wish to print a report for confirmation, press Yes. Otherwise press No.
  7. The machine will then return to the main screen. The new rates are now installed
 

Rate Confirmation Tool:

To confirm if you have downloaded the latest rates, visit the Rate Confirmation Tool. Select your meter model and enter your 7-digit Serial Number, and the tool will confirm if the latest Rates have been downloaded.  (The information can take a few hours to update - if you believe you have downloaded, but the tool says otherwise, please try again after 2 hours).

Note 1: If you download in advance of the effective date, do not worry if the new price does not show immediately after downloading!  The new Rates will not be activated until the effective date.

Note 2: Depending on your meter type, an additional connection and/or download might be required on the effective date.

Note 3: Occasionally the meter requires a reboot on/after the effective date, in order to display the new Rates.
