Adding custom projections for use in MapInfo Pro

1. Each custom projection string requires mandatory parameters in a specific order to be added to the mapinfow.prj file for use in MapInfo Pro.

2. By specifying a projection type and various required parameters, users can create a mathematical algorithm for producing equivalent coordinates in degrees for the projected coordinate system. Each projection has specific parameters that can be customized to make maps more geographically accurate.
The following table details each major coordinate system type and the parameters that can be used to customize that system.
The parameters are listed in the order they appear in the relevant projection entries in the MAPINFOW.PRJ file, found in the \Professional\ folder..
To create your own coordinate system using a particular projection, add an entry to the MAPINFOW.PRJ file. 
The parameters of a coordinate system are (in this order): 
l Coordinate System Name
l Projection Type
l Datum
l Units l Original Longitude
l Original Latitude
l Standard Parallel 1 l Standard Parallel 2
l Azimuth
l Scale Factor
l False Easting l False Northing
l Range

3. Go to the help and look for Projections and their Parameters, take a look at the Parameter which has an X, as these are the mandatory fields that will be needed.
4. Navigate to the location of where MapInfo Pro is installed and open the MAPINFOW.PRJ, and then follow the formatting convention when entering the new Coordinate system string to the .prj file, using NotePad or similar text editor.
