How to run the Licassist utility to create a text file for use in building a MapMarker Server license

License Assistant (LicAssist.exe or licassist) is an executable file that
gathers information for users to provide to Pitney Bowes Software Customer Service.

The accompanying licassist.txt file contains instructions for running the
license assistant. 

Navigate to the MapMarker software installation files that was downloaded and extracted on the machine:

Follow these steps to run the License Assistant executable and submit the
resulting file to Pitney Bowes Software. A license file will be returned in an e-mail.

On Windows platforms:
1.  Locate the LicAssist.exe file in the software media under the
        \licassist\windows\ folder.

2.  Copy this file from your software media to your local machine. For example,
        copy the file to your Desktop folder or the root of your C:\ drive).

3.  Double-click LicAssist.exe (or right-click and choose Run As Administrator
        if using a newer Windows OS).

4.  An example text file (named 'system.<US-75LJ6R1>.txt') will be generated and saved
        in the same folder as the LicAssist.exe application.

MAKE SURE TO ZIP the Text file before emailing.

5. Right click on the newly created text file and left click on > Send To > Compressed Zipped folder.

6.  E-mail this zipped  .txt file to CustomerService-PBS@pb.com.



On UNIX platforms the procedure is very similar:

1.  Locate the licassist program on your software media under the
        \licassist\<platform>\ folder, where <platform> is either
        aix, hpux, linux, or solaris. 
2.  Copy this file from your software media to your local machine.
3.  Grant execute permissions to the licassist application.
3.  Run licassist with administrative credentials.
4   A text file (named 'system.<MACHINENAME>.txt') will be generated and
        saved in the same folder as the licassist file.
MAKE SURE TO ZIP the Text file before emailing.

5. Right click on the newly created text file and left click on > Send To > Compressed Zipped folder.

6.  E-mail this zipped  .txt file to CustomerService-PBS@pb.com.

7.  E-mail this .txt file to CustomerService-PBS@pb.com.
