Creating a new database resource in Spectrum (v 11.0 and up)

Products affected: Spectrum Technology Platform
Version(s): 11.0 and higher
When you use the Spectrum Technology Platform, each module has database resources that must be set up in order to use various functions, such as Address Validation, Geocoding, GeoTax, Routing, and more. Each module's database resource setup will be slightly different, but follow these general steps below for basic database resource creation. Note: be sure you have downloaded and installed the data according to the data's release notes before starting these steps.

1. Log in to Management Console
2. On the top menu, click Resources > Spectrum Databases
3. Click the + icon to add a new resource
4. Type in a name for the resource in the box
5. Choose the module you want to create a resource for from the list. Some modules have a second "Type" that needs to be chosen on the list to the right as well.
6. Depending on the module, you may need to do one of the following:
  • Enter the path to the data you have installed for each required database, and any optional databases you wish to include in each specific text box
  • Click on the + to add paths to a list for a group of data
  • Check the box for the appropriate data for the resource you wish to set up
7. Once you have added all the data you wish to use for the resource, click the Save button

If you make a mistake or want to change a path later, check the box for the resource on the list, then click the pencil icon to edit the resource. Save any changes you make so that they are kept, or click Cancel if you don't want to make any changes.

Be sure to set the new resource up for it's respective module when you are ready to use it. See the documentation for your version of Spectrum for more information on the various modules, and the data that can be used with the modules. See the release notes for the specific data you are using for more information on that data as well.
