When users select “My Templates” as the option to save a custom template, the template is stored at
C:\Users\userlogin\AppData\Local\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\1700\Tools\LayoutTemplate\Templates\My Templates

When the user selects “Export as ZIP”, a Windows “Save As” dialog is presented, allowing the user to choose the name and location for the ZIP export.
Once the ZIP export is complete, the user can then share that ZIP with other Pro 17.0 users.

To import the custom template from the ZIP file, in MapInfo Pro 17, go to Layout > New Layout > Import and the “Import Template” option will be displayed, allowing users to browse to the .ZIP Layout Template export file to be imported:

Layout Usability Improvements
Here are some additional enhancements to the Layout Designer window in MapInfo Pro 17:

Smart Guides
MapInfo Pro 17.0  adds Smartguides and improved snapping so that it is much simpler to align objects or snap them together quickly. Smartguides work by snapping objects on the layout together as they move close together.

Paper Margin
The paper margin is now shown on the layout.  And users can snap objects to the margin so that they are not accidentally outside the printable area.

Layout Toolbar
When users right-click on a layout, they will now get a mini toolbar with some popular layout functions conveniently at their disposal.  This will allow Pro users to more quickly style and edit their layout without the need to use the ribbon.
