Resolve partial sealing or not sealing on the DM1000 and DM1100

Products affected: DM1000™, DM1100™

Issue

The envelope flaps are not moistened or are only partially moistened.

Cause

This can be caused by a number of issues:
  • Being out of E-Z Seal® solution
  • A buildup of dust or glue on the brush or wick
  • A mechanical problem

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve sealing issues:

Adjust the seal wetness:
  1. Press Seal.
  2. Select Adjust Wetness.
  3. Select a setting from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).
  4. Press Enter.
Refill the sealant bottle:
  1. Open the top feeder cover.
  2. Lift out the E-Z Seal bottle. The bottle is located to the left of the tape roll.
  3. Remove the cap.
  4. Add enough E-Z Seal to bring the level up to the bottom of the fill cap.
  5. Reattach the cap.
  6. Place the bottle back in the mailing machine.
  7. Close the top feeder cover.
Make sure that the sealer float is not stuck to the bottom of the sealer tank:
  1. To locate the float, remove the water bottle from the machine.
  2. Reach into the machine where the bottle normally rests. The float sits vertically on the right side wall of the tank.  
  3. Use your finger to gently move the float up and down to ensure that it is free to move.
Cycle the Nozzle Motor:
  1. Type 6946 and press Funds. The machine will enter service mode.
  2. Select Diagnostics.
  3. Select MMC Diagnostics.
  4. Select Motors.
  5. Select Water Pump Exerciser.
  6. Select Water Pump On.
  7. Let the pump run for 10 - 15 seconds.
  8. Select Water Pump Off to stop the pump.
  9. Press the left arrow to exit service mode.
