Resolve issue where geometry types of Arcs, Ellipses, Rectangles and Rounded Rectangles are not being "saved" once uploaded to a DBMS/ODBC Database

Products affected: MapInfo Pro™

Issue

Arcs, Ellipses, Rectangles and Rounded Rectangles geometry is not being saved once uploaded to a Database via DBMS/ODBC.
When viewed in the database, the SP_GEOMETRY column only shows "NULL", as in example shown below.
Also if users try to open the table in MapInfo Professional via DBMS/ODBC, the relevant features (i.e. map objects) do not display.as expected.

Cause

This occurs because Arcs, Ellipses, Rectangles and Rounded Rectangles are not true geographical objects; rather they are considered "presentational" or "ornamental" objects that should be used and displayed in the Layout window rather than the Mapper.

Resolution

UPDATED: September 19, 2017
Replace any Arcs with polylines and Ellipses, Rectangles and Rounded Rectangles with polygons.
For Ellipses, it may be easier to update the table with the centroid coordinates, kill the map objects and then create points using the coordinates and then create buffers around the points (i.e table > buffer).

Presentational objects should be replaced by true geographical objects as they may affect queries and they may not be compatible with all other GIS applications.

For a quick and easy way to find these objects use the Object Checker tool.
