Resolve tape jamming issue on the DM800, DM900, DM1000, DM1100 and more

Products affected: DM800™, DM825™, DM875™, DM900™, DM925™, DM1000™, DM1100™

Issue

Tape gets jammed inside the machine. 

Cause

Potential causes of tape feeding issues:
  • The tape may be installed upside down.
  • The tape pieces or paper slivers may be blocking the tape path.
  • The tape moistening brush may not be adjusted correctly.
  • The leading edge of the tape may be bent or folded under.
  • The sealing solution may need to be replenished.
  • The Wet/Dry lever may not be in the correct position for the tape type.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
  1. Remove any obstructions at the tape exit.
  2. Remove the tape brush:
    1. With one hand, tilt out and hold down the brush holder.
    2. With the other hand, pull out the brush.

  1. Run the brush under water.
  • Do not use any cleaning agents.
  • While rinsing, gently run a finger across the bristles to help remove any dried glue or paper dust.
  1. Reinstall the brush and holder into the machine.
Note: Ensure that the angled edge of the tape is facing the machine.
  1. Open the top cover and locate the blue lever where the tape feeds into the machine.
  2. Move the lever to the left to raise the tape entry rollers.
  3. Pull the tape to the left out of the machine.
  4. Test by running multiple $0 tapes using Key in Postage mode.
  5. If feeding issues are still present, from the main display type in 6946, then press Funds. The display will go into Service Setup mode.
  6. Select Diagnostics.
  7. Select PMC Diagnostics.
  8. Select Print Head Maintenance.
  9. Select Move Print Head/Cap.
  10. Select Open Cap.
  11. Select Move to Envelope Position. The print head moves automatically.
  12. Open the top cover.
  13. Remove any tape or other debris from behind the print head.

  1. If ink drops are present on the tape track or in the tape track opening, use a cleaning wipe to remove them.
  2. Close the cover and select the following meter options:
    1. Select Move to Home Position. The print head moves back into position.
    2. Select Close Cap.
    3. Press the left arrow to exit Service Mode.
  3. Reinstall the tape, if necessary, and try to print tapes again.
