Resolve "Cover Open" on the DM500, DM525 and more

Products affected: DM500™, DM525™, DM550™, DM575™, DM800™, DM800i™, DM825™, DM875™, DM900™, DM925™, DM1000™, DM1100™


The meter displays the message Cover Open and will not run mail.


A cover is not closed completely.

To resolve this issue:
  1. Turn the machine off using the power switch.
Note: The switch is located on the far left side of the machine, except on the DM800™ and DM900™, where the switch located on the front in the middle.
  1. Open the top covers. Ensure that all of the blue levers are pushed all the way down into the machine. If a lever is sticking up, the top cover may not close completely.
  2. For the DM500™, DM550™ and DM800i mailing machines, ensure that the transport deck (located in front of the printer at the exit of the machine) is pushed up completely.
  3. Close up all top covers.
  4. Turn the machine back on.
