Resolve sealing issues on the DM800, DM825 and more

Products affected: DM800™, DM800i™, DM825™, DM875™, DM900™, DM925™

Issue

The mail pieces are not sealed or are only partially sealed.
 

Cause

Sealing issues can be caused by a number of issues:
  • There is no solution in the bottle
  • The nozzle is too tight
  • The sealer lever is not in correct position
  • The flaps are not placed properly on the feed deck
  • The envelopes not shingled properly
  • The flap size is not within specifications
  • The side guide is out too far to hold envelopes in place

Resolution

UPDATED: September 1, 2017
If the flaps won't moisten, check this list of potential problems and solutions:

There is no solution in the bottle:
  • Remove the bottle and refill solution
The nozzle is too tight:
  • Loosen the nozzle on the moistener bottle and finger-tighten it
The sealer lever is not in the correct position:
  • Ensure the sealer lever is adjusted to the up position
The flaps are not placed properly on the feed deck:
  • Open the envelope flaps and place them in the slot between the feeder deck and rear wall
The envelopes not shingled properly:
  • Re-shingle the envelopes
The flap size is not within specifications:
  • Use envelopes with flaps from 1” to 3-7/8” deep
The side guide is out too far to hold envelopes in place:
  • Push the side guide closer to the envelopes but not touching them
