Unresponsive scale on the DM300C-DM475

Products affected: DM300C™, DM400C™, DM450C™, DM475™

Issue

Your attached scale does not respond when you place an item on it.

Cause

Your meter does not communicate with your attached scale.

Resolution

There are two ways to troubleshoot this issue; try them in this order:  

Solution 1: Restart your meter:

  1. Remove your scale from the top of the meter.
  2. Restart your meter:
    1. Unplug the power cord.
    2. Wait one to three minutes.
    3. Plug the power cord back in, ensuring that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.
  3. Place your scale back on the top of your meter.
  4. Test your meter by placing one letter-sized sheet of paper on the scale. It should weigh 0.2 oz.
If your issue has not been resolved, then try Solution 2.
 

Solution 2: Check your serial port setting:

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Setup.
  3. Press Page Down.
  4. Select Serial Port.
  5. Select Attached Scale.
  6. Press Home.
  7. Test your meter by placing one letter-sized sheet of paper on the scale. It should weigh 0.2 oz.
