Resolve "You must create a PLD file" when opening a new day for UPS in SendSuite Xpress or Ascent

When the UPS day is closed and manifest is printed, upon selecting the Open Day button, the error message "You must create a PLD file and upload it to the UPS Data Center prior to opening a new day for UPS" is displayed and the day for UPS fails to open.


UPS Online Communication Link Setup is not set up.

  1. Open SendSuite® Xpress Setup or Ascent™ Setup:
  • In SendSuite Xpress, select Start > All Programs > Xpress > Xpress Setup.
  • In Ascent, select Start > All Programs > Ascent > Ascent Setup.
  1. Select Carriers > UPS Online Setup.
  2. Select UPS Online Communication Link Setup.
  3. Check either Direct Access or Dial-up Access (Direct Access is recommended).
  4. Select Next.
  5. Select Test. A successful test will show a message "Successful connected to Direct Access". Select OK.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Select Finish.
  8. Exit Setup.
  9. Open SendSuite Xpress or Ascent as usual.
  10. Open the Manifest screen:
    • In Ascent, select View > Daily Manifest Status.
    • In SendSuite Xpress, select View > Manage Manifest.
  11. Select UPS.
  12. Select Print.
  13. Once UPS finishes printing, select Open New Day. The day should now open with no errors.
