How to correctly select Page Orientation in MapInfo Professional

Products Affected: MapInfo Professional, MapInfo Pro
When you select the A4 paper size and print something in portrait then the PDF generated is in the expected orientation.
If you select the A0 1189 x 841mm then the width is larger than the length which is the reverse of the A4 specification. When this paper size type is printed in portrait then it will come out appearing like it's in landscape.
This is the way the paper size is configured in the MapInfo Professional PDF driver. In order for the page to be printed in the traditional portrait orientation, landscape mode needs to be selected.
The MapInfo Pro PDF driver pulls the paper sizes from other printer drivers installed on your computer. If you only have regular printer drivers installed on your computer then you will have a restricted set of paper sizes. To add additional paper sizes to the MapInfo Professional PDF driver add a large format printer as follows:
  1. Start > Devices and Printers.
  2. Select Add Printer.
  3. Add a local printer, port: print to file, select a driver that supports large format printers e.g. HP DesignJet T1200 HPGL2 plotter.
  4. The paper settings associated with that printer will now be available to the MapInfo Pro PDF Printer.
