How to restore Mapinfo 8.5 Error after “Please locate MAPINFO.FNT” error

This issue (missing configuration files in MapInfo Professional upon startup) is often caused by corruption of a User Profile. Below steps can help in resolving the issue.

1. Use Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs >> MapInfo Professional :
Right-click > Repair to restore the files
2. Uninstall then reboot the machine & reinstall to get a clean installation
(again this should create a fresh copy of the missing files)
