How to resolve the error: "Unable to transfer the License because License Id was not Specified" when attempting to transfer a MapInfo Pro license

When trying to transfer a MapInfo Pro license, the error
"Unable to transfer license because a license ID was not specified"
is displayed:


This error is typically related to registry values being modified or corrupted, causing the error when MapInfo Pro attempts to
connect to the Flexnet licensing server at Pitney Bowes and process the transfer request.



This error is typically caused when the Access Code value found at the registry key
has been modified after activating MapInfo Pro.
The Access Code is stored in the Flexnet Trusted Storage so when the user tries to transfer the license,
the modified value in the registry does not match the correct value found in Trusted Storage.
This causes the error message to be displayed.

To resolve the issue:
  1. If running, close MapInfo Pro.
  2. Confirm the correct Access Code associated with the MapInfo Pro serial number that was used for Activation. If the original email sent to the user with the MapInfo Pro credentials cannot be found, users can contact Client Service or Tech Support, who can provide the correct Access code for any given serial number
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\<VERSION_NUMBER> and modify the Access Code in the Registry to the correct value used at the time of Activation and stored in Trusted Storage.
  4. Launch MapInfo Pro and Transfer the license
