Resolve Error 401 when attempting to connect to the Portrait HQ


After installing one of the Portrait products that uses the HQ, you see an error 401 (Not authorized) when logging in.
You may also find that the web address http://localhost/marketinghq does not resolve properly - returning a 404 error.


One or more of the user account credentials is incorrectly set up in Microsoft IIS.

Double check all user credentials that are set up in Microsoft IIS. Pay particular attention to the following:
  • "Portrait Shared Server AppPool" pool is running under the correct id and password
  • "Under the "PortraitSharedServices" site | Authentication, make sure Anonymous Authentication is set to the correct id and password.
