Issue

Notices or Street Works Inspections are failing to export.
Sending the Inspections through EToN 6 (Electronic Transfer of Notices 6) there are some which fail with the following error.

Error: The 'http://www.wrcplc.co.uk/Schemas/ETON:WorksReference' element is invalid - The value 'xxxxx\xxxxxxx' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.wrcplc.co.uk/Schemas/ETON:WorksReferenceType' - The Pattern constraint failed.

Cause

As per the Technical Specification for the Electronic Transfer of Notices, version 6,  Project and Works Ref apply to both works Promoters and Authorities.

All references consist of
  • a 2-character OrganisationPrefix (based on the SWA_ORG_PREFIX values allocated by the NSG Custodian) the first character of which must be a letter (A-Z) and the second character a letter (A-Z) or a number between 2-9
  • a 3-character district number (the DistrictID value as a numeric string) and
  • a 19-character works reference limited to uppercase alphabetic characters A-Z, numeric characters 0-9 and the separators “/” and “-“. Spaces must not be used.
There is normally an invalid character in the Works Ref field.  In this example the "\" is the issue as this is not a valid character.

Resolution

UPDATED: July 28, 2020
Option 1 - Create paper copies to send via fax/post

Option 2 - Ask the Promoter of the Works to create a new Works without the invalid character and send that to the Authority to create the Inspection against.
